The treatment with an anti-head-lice agent should be started simultaneously with combing. The products are less effective against the nits. To kill lice that have hatched from the nits in the meantime, the treatment should be repeated according to the manufacturer's instructions after 7-9 days.
The anti-head-lice products are available from a chemist or pharmacy.
Products based on dimeticone are preferred because these products do not contain insecticides and because resistance cannot develop to these products.
