ABD 7 Oesofagitis/colitis cytomegalovirus (CMV)

Treatment duration guided by symptoms, with possible PCR monitoring and consideration of the underlying immune defect 

In a clinically stable patient, switch to valganciclovir p.o. 900 mg twice daily, given its good oral bioavailability

Consider secondary prophylaxis in HIV-positive patients
